Special demonstrations
can be arranged for visiting groups. Groups of 12 to 20 can be
accommodated. On arrival (generally at about 11.00) the group are
given coffee and biscuits. A demonstration of traditional Irish favourites
follows, including potato cakes, brown bread, the salmon of knowledge and
Armagh apple pie, is followed by elegant lunch, based on the dishes
demonstrated, in the Georgian dining room. The group will normally
depart at around 2.30. Alternatively a short demonstration on a subject
such as baking soda bread can be arranged. This will generally take about
one hour and up to 10 of the participants can actually bake their own
loaves.
The house dates from the last years of the Georgian period and was originally occupied by a Dublin merchant. Seated lunches or dinners for up to 16 can be arranged and buffet style the rooms can accommodate up to 24. It is just around the corner from The Burlington Hotel, in the heart of Ballsbridge.
